When buying drink coasters, drink coasters usually come in complete sets, which contain drink coasters made from the same stone materials. While design and looks may vary, certain patterns and cutting occur naturally due to the formation of the stone itself.

Apart from an article of decoration or to protect the furniture, beverage coasters can be used more innovatively and effectively as advertising matter. Companies and advertising houses sometimes use these coasters to propagate about their products and services. This concept of late has been used by pubs, restaurants and hotels as a marketing tool. Many companies manufacturing medicines also get their brand name embossed on the coasters. Such coasters can be circulated in parties and functions and can also be gifted to people. It is believed that a person who uses a coaster is considered more careful, mature, detail loving and responsible.

Another important place in the house where the coaster usually finds its place is the patio. The patio furniture has also to be protected and hence the use of the coasters. Drink coasters are very useful in the patios as people often sit around in the patios, eat and drink.
