Getting Your Garage Clean And Organized
Today it is a little warmer outside, and of course, that means my wife is pushing me to get our and clean up the garage. This is definitely not one of my favorite spring time activities to be sure, but it is very important and must be done.
Here are some tips for getting out and cleaning up your garage that will make thing more organized for you all summer long.
Organize The Shoes
You would have never guessed that I’d start out with this one, but it really needs to be addressed. If your family is like mine, then you take your shoes off prior to walking inside the house on the carpet. That means that all of your shoes get stacked, dumped or thrown somewhere in the garage. This area must be organized long before you can venture out and straighten out the rest.
Get a shoe rack that is easy to use and convenient. If it is not convenient, it won’t get used. Have an area for each person’s shoes as well. Your wife needs a spot for her winter boots, as well as here MBT Sport Shoes and fit flop casuals. Of course, the kids’ shoes will need a spot that is isolated to keep that smell away, and your work boots may be a little muddy, which won’t go well with your Johnston and Murphy Alligators. I think you get the picture.
Organize The Walls
I know it’s hard to believe, but garages are really meant for cars, and not your lawn and garden tools. With this in mind, it is always best to get most of that stuff hung up on the walls.
For gardening tools and supplies, you will need lots of hooks, and even more shelves. Be sure to draw out your plan ahead of time to ensure you have a spot for each item, as well as extra room for future purchases.
Move Power Equipment Elsewhere
Now that freezing winter temperatures are gone, it is ok to move your snow blower out to the shed in the back yard. After all, do you really have room for it in your garage? In addition, you should put your lawn mower, edger, aerator and any other large power tools out in the shed to clear off floor space in the garage.
The last thing to do is sweep and scrub all the salt and winter buildup off the floors and you are done! See, that wasn’t all that difficult and now you can actually use your garage for more than just a place to stub your toes!
