UK Consumers Are Turning Sharper In The Economic Crisis. A Top Brand Is No Longer A License To Print Money
Two quite new players in Britain automotive industry are resisting the pattern and demonstrating considerable sales increases in a quickly shrivelling market.
January was absolutely dreadful for almost all vehicle makers in Britain, with overall unit sales down by almost a third. But, at least 2 companies are resisting that pattern, demonstrating a considerable increase in sales in comparison with last year. Fascinatingly, one of the companies, Hyundai, is a producer of cars, while the other, XOPC, markets a range of High Performance Car Wiper Blades and Car Care goods. The one thing that both these companies both have in common is that they are comparatively new to the market, and give something additional to customers in the form of extraordinarily extended warranties and outstanding value for money.
Hyundai sold 1885 cars in Britain last month, a 5.66 per cent increase over January 2008. The increase isn’t the outcome of enormous promotional cut-price deals to big fleet consumers either, as 1352 were sold to private consumers. This produces a 33.7 per cent increase in sales in comparison to January 2008, and provided Hyundai 2.5 per cent of the retail car sales market.
Hyundai think that the economic conditions have meant that consumers are investigating far more prior to making Judgement, and comparing specification, costs and warranties before making a commitment.
Hyundai UK’s managing director, Tony Whitehorn, stated “Hyundai are coming out on top and it means we are attracting customers who have never considered the brand before. We are finding there are still plenty of buyers out there if you have the right cars at the right price.”
These feelings were echoed by John Akin of XOPC UK who stated that sales in January were the best ever for their range of High Performance Silicone Wiper Blades. Mr Akin said “Many motorists are having to consider the maintenance costs of their cars. Instead of routinely opting for the premium branded goods, they’re having to research, and suddenly they recognise that we can provide them with outstanding goods, at very reasonable prices, with a longer service life, better performance in extreme conditions, and besides that we back it all with a twelve month warranty.
That’s very uncommon for Wiper Blades. All the Leading brands advise their consumers that they ought to anticipate to swap their Wiper Blades within 6 to twelve months. On the other hand, we say – if any of our Wiper Blades that don’t last at least 12 months; we’ll swap them right away and without Charge.”
