The origins of the guitar of today can be traced back thousands of years with many of the ancient instruments showing characteristics rather like the modern instrument. Electric or Acoustic

The acoustic guitar is available in a number of types but all require a sound box behind the strings to amplify the sound of the vibrating strings.
